Glowstone is a glowing block found only in The Nether. It typically grows in clusters either very high or at ground level.
Although glowstone makes the same shatter sound as glass when broken, it must be harvested with a pickaxe. Glowstone blocks will melt nearby snow and ice, and can be used as a chandelier, similar to a Jack-O-Lantern.
